10-Minute Ritual for Rooting Deep & Letting Go
As the Leaves Fall, So Can We Let Go…
Autumn teaches us how to release with grace.
The trees don’t resist the changing winds. They shed what’s no longer needed, returning it to the Earth to become nourishment for what’s next. We are invited to do the same. To breathe. To slow down. To soften our grip.
In the spirit of this sacred season, I offer you a 10-minute Fall Ritual for Grounding & Letting Go—a ceremony designed to root you in your body, calm your nervous system, and gently compost the energies you no longer wish to carry.
Whether done at your altar, on the land, or simply in your home by candlelight, this practice brings us home to ourselves.
The Ritual: Ground & Release (10 minutes)
What You’ll Need:
A quiet space (indoor or outdoor)
A lit candle or oil lamp
A warm mug of fall tea (like tulsi, ginger, or cinnamon)
A journal or notepad
A natural object to represent release (leaf, stone, twig, dried flower)
Step 1: Arrive & Breathe (2 minutes)
Take a comfortable seat. Feel the Earth beneath you. Soften your jaw, drop your shoulders, and take 3 slow, grounding breaths.
Inhale deeply…
Exhale gently.
Let yourself arrive in this moment.
Step 2: Light the Flame (1 minute)
As you light your candle or oil lamp, say softly:
“I welcome the sacred light within me. I invite peace and clarity to this space.”
Let this flame represent your inner fire—the light that guides you through the darkness.
Step 3: Release & Let Go (3 minutes)
Hold your natural object in your hands. Close your eyes and feel into what you are ready to release—old habits, heavy emotions, outdated stories, fear, or fatigue.
When ready, speak aloud or whisper:
“I offer this to the Earth. I surrender what no longer serves.”
Place the object gently on your altar, in a bowl of salt, or outside in the soil as an offering of release.
Step 4: Reflect & Anchor (3 minutes)
Open your journal and respond to the following:
What am I being asked to release this season—physically, emotionally, spiritually?
What will I make space for when I let this go?
Allow your words to flow without judgment.
Step 5: Sip & Close (1 minute)
Take a slow sip of your tea. Let it warm your body. Let it ground your energy.
Blow out your candle and place your hand over your heart.
“I am rooted, I am held, I am free.”
You have returned to yourself.
A Sacred Practice to Repeat
This ritual can be done anytime during the fall season—especially around the Full
Moon, Equinox, or Waning Moon phases when release is most potent. You may also incorporate it as a monthly reset or during moments of emotional overwhelm.
Let it be simple. Let it be sacred. Let it bring you home.
